Summary Dad's Home (2010)

Recent widower Ben Westman suddenly loses his executive job in the advertising firm he co-founded and decides not to replace the latest quickly resigning housekeeper. While he seeks another job, far from easy with CEOs like Craig Vertillo believing everything has to be changed on account of the new media, Ben cooks, cleans and raises his pre-teen son Dylan, who desperately needs a firm fatherly hand, and brat daughter Lindsay (14), who needs boundaries with boy-friend Brandon. Some help comes from Ben's brother Brian and Dylan's teacher Hope Jensen, who also becomes Ben's first post-widowing date.

As the weeks go by, dad Ben gets involved with son Dylan's baseball team after he finds out from the coach that Dylan has quit without telling him - having attended no games while he had a job as a now-fired ad executive, and rediscovers the mundane chores that keep a household running. Daughter Lindsay is starting to discover boys - and boundaries have to be set when Ben comes home and finds her entertaining a male school friend in her bedroom. Ben and Dylan's teacher are thrown together as parent and teacher many times as Ben discovers school activities and actually start a romantic relationship. As the plot thickens - Ben gets offered a job in Cleveland - and has a hard time telling the children who - naturally - are reluctant to move from their stone and glass home with the year-round swimming pool and established friendships. Just when we think the movers are about to start packing - Ben says a final goodbye to Dylan's teacher and they muse whether a relationship can be cultivated if he stays. Voila! As the closing credits stream gracefully by - the new foursome is watching Dylan's team and who hits one out of the park - Dylan!!!!
